How does the GSNet Run?

The GSNet is run by volunteers for the members, with strong support from the ICE Secretariat.  Our main forum is the GSNet Committee that meets four times a year to debate issues of importance to the membership to inform ICE Council, share best practice and ideas between the Regions and to promote the profession to the wider community.  The Committee brings together representatives from the Regional Committees and G&S members of ICE panels and boards, as well as Graduate members of ICE Council .

The GSNet term coincides with the ICE Presidents year in office, and our programme of meetings is:

  • December – Committe meeting
  • March/April – Annual Conference
  • June – Committee meeting
  • September – Committee meeting and elections
Committee meetings are usually held in the ICE building at One Great George Street, and the Annual Conference hosted by each UK region in turn.  This year the annual conference will be hosted by the South West region in Bristol.

Although we have only four meetings a year, much of the work is done between meetings through working groups and panels, and momentum is maintained through the Executive. Headed up by the Chair, this six member body elected from the Committee meets on a monthly basis sets the direction of the Committee for the coming year, through our Business Plan and supports the ongoing activities of the members through the Best Practice Guide
